Hello!
This past week I was trying to find conversation games on internet, and it was soo difficult that I pretty much just found like three which were like the ones I was thinking about. And so I decided to make an entry on these games.
Here are some fun speaking games you can play in the bus, plane, or just while you’re eating with your friends and family:
As the name says, you have to say two truths and invent a lie (normally about yourself). The other player gets a point if they get right which one is the lie the first time they guess. The player which gets more points, wins.
To make it more interesting: If you want, you can give them two points for getting it right the first time; and one if they get it right in their second guess.
In this game, the players have to be very careful and focused. There are two prohibited words (yes, no) and the players have to make each other questions to try to make the other one say one of them. You can either have two lives (one for each word) or just lose if you say one of the prohibited words.
The difference with the previous one is that in this one only a player can’t say the prohibited words, and it is more fun if a player has the role of a shop assistant, and the others are the customers. For example:
S.A: “Can I help you?”
C: “Yes, please. I want a bag.
S.A: “What colour? We only have black or white.”
C: “Um… the darker one.”
Here, the players take it in turns to count up to 21 between all of them. You can either say one, two or three numbers maximum in one turn. The one which says “21”, loses. E.g:
A: 1,2
B: 3
A: 4,5,6
[…]
B: 21 (has lost)
So, this is another game where players have to be focused. Overall if there are a large number of players. Every player is told which letter or number they are, for everyone to know; but this game can also be played simply with people’s names (best if there are quite a lot of players). How to play, for example, with names:
Anne: Anne Anne calling Sarah
Sarah: Sarah Sarah calling James.
So, as you can see, someone says TWICE the name, number or letter they are and they ONCE the person they are calling, and that one has to quickly do the same thing with another person (or the same). If the person isn’t paying attention and takes more than, let’s say, 5s to answer, they lose ans the rest continue playing until there’s just one left. If someone confuses and only says their name once, or says another person’s name instead of their one first; they too lose.
In word chains, a word is said, and the next player has to say a word which starts with the last letter of the word said. You may know it as last letter. Words cannot be repeated, and players cannot take too much time to think or they will lose. Also, before the game starts, establish if players can or cannot say proper nouns.
- I went to the supermarket…
You will have probably played this sometime in your life. It’s the game where someone starts saying “I went to the supermarket and bought [item]”, and the next one has to repeat the whole sentence (including the good) and add one of their own. Players lose if they miss or repeat items.
So, this is all for today. Hope you liked it 🙂
If you know any more, feel free to add them in the comments 🙂
Bye, see you in the next entry.
¡Hola!
A: 1,2
B: 3
R: 4,5,6
[…]
Anne: Anne Anne llamando a Sarah
Sarah: Sarah Sarah llamando a James.
